Tianqiao is the founder of the Shanda Group. Widely recognized as one of the most innovative entrepreneurs globally, Tianqiao has been credited with having pioneered and built the online game industry and the online literature industry in China. Over the past 17 years, three of Shanda Group’s subsidiaries were listed on NASDAQ and one on KOSDAQ. Shanda Group became a dedicated global investment company, wholly-owned by Tianqiao and his family, after taking Shanda’s parent company private in early 2012.
In Feb 2017, he was appointed to the Board of Directors as Vice Chairman at Legg Mason.

Tianqiao has been appointed to a number of government boards, most notably the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) where he has been a national member since 2008.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Fudan University, where he is also a member of the Board of Directors. Tianqiao and his wife Chrissy, who is also a co-founder of Shanda, are active philanthropists. They have been working closely with leading universities and research institutions worldwide to sponsor, support and develop fundamental research programs on brain science, in addition to their years of charitable contribution to support child education, medical and healthcare programs, disaster relief and other social causes in China.
Chrissy leads Shanda’s philanthropic efforts and manages the Group’s key relationships with leading universities and research institutions globally. She is also an active participant in Shanda’s investment efforts and is responsible for the finance, operations and administrative teams at Shanda. Over the course of Shanda’s history, Chrissy has held various executive positions within the Group and has been deeply involved in all major business operations and decisions, including the role of the Group CFO from 1999 – 2004. Prior to co-founding Shanda with her husband, she was an investment banker at Zhe Jiang Jin Xin Security Company in Shanghai.
Chrissy holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from The University of International Business and Economics.
Robert joined Shanda Group in 2012 as the Group President with overall managerial responsibilities of all business units. Robert also leads the Group’s global private equity and venture capital investment efforts. In addition, Robert is deeply involved in the Group’s philanthropic effort. He was also the Chairman and CEO of Cloudary Corporation, the world’s largest Chinese-language original content platform, until the sale of Cloudary to a consortium led by Tencent and Carlyle in late 2014. Robert has played a pivotal role in the Group’s transformation to become a global investment company.
Prior to Shanda, Robert served as Managing Director and Head of Asia Pacific Technology, Media and Telecom Investment Banking at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. He has held several senior management positions at Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs and Nomura in their New York, Menlo Park and Hong Kong offices. Robert began his career at IBM in 1992.
Robert currently serves as a Vice Chairman of the Copyright Society of the People’s Republic of China. In 2014, he was named the 2014 Economic Leader of China by China Economic Development Forum.
Robert holds a Master of Management degree from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management, Northwestern University, with a Fulbright scholarship in 1998.
Cathy oversees the activities of the Public Market Investments where she is responsible for screening, conducting due diligence, selecting and monitoring Shanda’s public securities and fixed income investments. She also serves as the Group’s Chief of Staff.
Cathy played an integral role in the transformation of the Shanda Group; she was deeply involved in the privatization of Shanda Interactive Entertainment Limited (NASDAQ: SNDA) in 2012 and the sale of Shanda Games (NASDAQ: GAME) in 2015. She also established Shanda’s U.S. office in Menlo Park in 2016.
Prior to joining Shanda in 2009, she worked in the Asia Special Situations Group of Goldman Sachs in Hong Kong where she was focused on private equity and real estate investments.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree from Tsinghua University, a Master of Engineering degree from Stanford University, and an MBA degree from the Booth School of Business, University of Chicago.
John is tasked with managing Shanda’s worldwide tax affairs. He is also responsible for structuring the Group’s mergers, acquisitions and divestitures. In addition, he is deeply involved in structuring our international philanthropic activities. John also heads all of Shanda’s timberland investments worldwide.
Prior to joining Shanda in 2010, John was a senior tax partner at KPMG responsible for China taxation for the China and HK practice. Before relocating to Hong Kong in 1994, he was a tax partner at KPMG Vancouver specializing in Canadian and cross-border taxation. He started his career at the Toronto office of KPMG in 1975.
While at KPMG, John was a frequent speaker at taxation conferences around the world. He lectured a course on International Taxation for three years at Fudan University. He also lectured the taxation program in conjunction with Tsinghua University for the CFO of large state-owned enterprises, and Canadian taxation at the University of Toronto. He was a co-editor of the Asia Pacific Tax Journal. John is a member of the Canadian and British Columbia Institute of Chartered Accountants.
John is a qualified chartered accountant. He is a fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
John holds a degree in Commerce from the University of Manitoba.
Li is responsible for Shanda’s overall legal, compliance, corporate records and risk management matters. Li works closely with the business teams and external counsels on all of Shanda’s transactions, oversees our legal due diligence, documentation, and regulatory risk assessment efforts and leads our negotiations with potential target companies. Li established Shanda’s compliance programs and processes that are designed to respond to obligations arising under the laws and regulations in jurisdictions where Shanda does businesses. She works closely with the rest of the Group to provide both consultative and oversight support and to implement and maintain such policies and procedures.
Prior to joining Shanda in 2011, Li was in private practice with Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP in Hong Kong and with Sullivan & Cromwell LLP in New York. She advised major investment banks on Wall Street as underwriters or placement agents in all forms of capital markets transactions including primary and secondary equity offering, high yield bond offering, hybrid securities financing, senior debt offering, and equity and credit derivatives. Li also advised large corporations in various M&A transactions including mergers, stock/asset sale or purchase and PIPE transactions.
Li is admitted to practice in the state of New York.
Li received her J.D. degree from Columbia Law School where she was a James Kent Scholar. She received her LL.B. from Fudan University (with honors) and LL.M. from Peking University.
Stephen is responsible for the management and operations of Shanda’s real estate business, Shanda World. He is also a Senior Director at Shanda Investment Management and a Managing Partner of Shanda’s O2O fund.
Prior to joining Shanda in 2008, he was the deputy general manager of Tianchen Co., Ltd., an A-share listed company, and was in charge of real estate development, logistics, investments and marketing, amongst other responsibilities.
Stephen holds a Bachelor’s of Management Science degree from the Management Science Department of Fudan University, and an MBA degree jointly awarded by Fudan University and Norway Management Science College.
